Ice bathing at the Zugspitz Resort
Crystal-clear air, an almost frozen lake, the mountains of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena in the background. With one courageous step, you dive into the ice-cold water - and feel more alive than ever. Ice bathing combines a unique experience of nature with the revitalising power of the cold. More and more people swear by the positive effects, but what makes it so appealing? And how do you get started with this extraordinary activity?
The technique of ice bathing: how to get started
Ice swimming requires a mixture of mental strength and physical preparation. Getting started usually begins with calm breathing and a slow walk into the water. It is particularly important to acclimatise the body to the cold in advance, for example by taking cold showers or using specific breathing techniques. Controlled breathing helps to curb the body's reaction to the cold water and find inner calm.
The magic of ice bathing: a plunge into a cold adventure
In January, we offer ice bathing in our new swimming pond for all brave souls. This extraordinary event is a wonderful way to strengthen the body, sharpen the senses and relax deeply. Taking part is a unique experience that promotes both physical and mental health.
Our upcoming dates for ice bathing are as follows:
03.01.25
10.01.25
16.01.25
22.01.25
29.01.25
The time is 09:30 in each case. However, we recommend being on site at 09:00 to get the day off to a relaxed start.
Programme of the event:
The entire ice bathing programme lasts around 3 hours and includes the following elements:
Getting in the mood: first we start with an introduction to ice bathing, where we tell you everything you need to know about the technique and the positive effects of the cold water.
Breathing exercises: Breathing exercises and gentle stretches will help you to optimally prepare and relax your body for the upcoming ice bath. We attach particular importance to individualised support so that every participant receives the support they need.
Ice bathing: The highlight of the programme - immersion in cold water, which boosts circulation and promotes health.
Follow-up: After the ice bath, there is a gentle follow-up treatment to slowly bring the body back to a state of rest.
Health advice:
For your safety and well-being, we ask that only healthy people take part in this event. If you suffer from cardiovascular problems, epilepsy, high blood pressure or other serious heart problems, we urge you to consult your doctor before taking part. Ice bathing can be very beneficial, but should not be undertaken without medical approval if you have a pre-existing medical condition.
Maximum number of participants:
To ensure that each participant receives individual attention, we have set a maximum number of 10 participants. This ensures that everyone receives the attention they deserve.
Important notes:
Please bring a bathrobe and towels as you will need them after the ice bath.
We recommend that you come in sportswear or comfortable clothing, as we will do relaxation and breathing exercises together before the ice bath, including light stretching.
Please register directly on site at reception.
