Holiday directly at the foot of the Zugspitze
The very first glance upon arrival at the Zugspitz Resort is in its direction, enthroned majestically above you. We are talking about the Zugspitze. With its 2,962 m, the Zugspitze is the highest mountain in Germany and our TOP destination during your holiday at the Zugspitz Resort.
You can start the ascent to the Zugspitze directly in front of the resort: the Tyrolean Zugspitzbahn takes you comfortably and effortlessly to the summit in just under 10 minutes. Even the spectacular ascent with the panoramic cable car is a true experience. You glide gently and almost silently upwards on the modern aerial tramway and cover 1,725 metres in altitude during the journey.
Special sights worth seeing on the Zugspitze
Once at the mountain station, you can visit a museum, the panorama summit restaurant and the snow crystal world "Der Schneekristall" on the Zugspitze. But first of all, go outside and enjoy the view into the distance on the roof of the two mountain stations. In the best weather, you have the opportunity to see four countries at once - Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. From here you can also "climb" the Tyrolean summit cross and the German summit cross.
On the roof of the Tiroler Zugspitzbahn is the snow crystal world "Der Schneekristall". Here you can immerse yourself in the magical world of snow crystals and experience the unique crystal formations up close and learn many facts and information.
The Museum "Fascination Zugspitze"
In the museum "Faszination Zugspitze" at the summit of the Zugspitze, you will travel back to the time of the first ascent in 1820. Further into history, you will also find everything worth knowing about the construction of the first Zugspitzbahn in the 1920s and the modernisation in the 1960s.
Then you reach the old entrance hall, which now offers a unique view of the mountains through a huge glass surface. You can also see a gondola from the 1960s and a 3-D model of the Zugspitz massif. The tour continues with a presentation of the various natural spectacles on the Zugspitze and the special exhibition on the 200th anniversary of the first ascent.
But we don't want to tell you any more than that - visit the museum at the summit of the Zugspitze and experience this unique exhibition with your own eyes.

In the Panorama Summit Restaurant you will experience the pinnacle of delights. The self-service restaurant with a far-reaching view offers you regional specialities in a unique ambience. A very special experience: the fondue dinner at sunset and red glowing mountain panorama.
